Bodijn Machinewerken will show various vibratory chutes for weighing, dosing and packaging at the packaging exhibition EMPACK2017. These include a BulkBlaster, BulkBlaster Light and the G2mkII.
"Bodijn demonstrates a configuration of three vibrating chutes in which product is transported. The setup is filled manually and the product is collected in crates. In this set-up, it is very easy to see how the vibrating technique moves the product from bulk to a thin layer of product in order to provide the inquiring machine, such as a weigher, with a continuous product supply," explains Theo van Os, responsible for marketing at Bodijn Machinewerken.
Three vibratory systems
"This configuration is made up entirely of vibratory chutes designed and supplied by Bodijn," van Os said. "A total of three different vibratory systems will be demonstrated. These include a BulkBlaster type vibratory feeder, a BulkBlaster Light and the fully updated G2mkII vibratory feeder."
"Bodijn supplies customised machines to its customers. In only a few cases are these machines built from the company's standard components, while in all other cases machines are fully custom developed for the customer," Van Os explains. "For example, Bodijn supplied a feeding system for coated biscuits for a well-known biscuit manufacturer. A system was chosen in which biscuits are placed upright and against each other, manually on a 14-track vibrating system. The system ensures that the biscuits are presented flat ánd spaced apart, in one long row to the coating machine, which applies a final top layer of chocolate or yoghurt to the biscuits."

Discharging excess sugar
Another system supplied by Bodijn is a conveyor system for a well-known candy manufacturer, which is used to feed three weighing systems in a US factory. Candy is fed from an existing central conveyor and distributed to three weighing machines. Two Bodijn G2 vibrating chutes with round outlet and grit discharge ensure that excess sugar is discharged. Easily cleanable belts with distribution valves are placed between the vibrating chutes.
A third example is a conveyor system for apple pie filling supplied by Bodijn. Apples are a very fragile product. Therefore, the customer was looking for a transport system that could lead apples to the dosing system with as little bruising as possible. A vibrating feeder provides the solution. The apple pie filling is prepared in a mixer and hygienically transported across the storey floor via chutes directly to the filling machine of the first apple pie line or transported to the second apple pie line via two vibrating chutes of Bodijn's BulkBlaster type. Especially the cleanability of the BulkBlasters is mentioned by the satisfied customer as an advantage over traditional conveyors.
