Ever been on a cruise? Then perhaps this is something for you too. The Dutch submarine company U-Boat Worx has announced a new entertainment submarine for up to 120 guests, plus a full crew and catering staff.

Under Water Entertainment Platform

With configurable floor space of 150 square metres, the 'Under Water Entertainment Platform' (UWEP) is a true entertainment space that can be set up as an underwater restaurant, casino, wedding venue, meeting room, et cetera.

The submarine's design is spacious. It is a whopping 35.1 m long, 7.7 m wide and 7 m high, with 14 huge 4.5 m diameter acrylic windows to look out through. The exterior is decorated with lights to give everyone a clear view of what is happening outside.

Freely configurable

This submarine is so big that the front and back sections are divided into two levels. The upper section is a stage-like space for extra seating - the lower sections house the captain's compartment at the front, a catering kitchen and five bathrooms at the rear.

The bar in the submarine can be configured with a VIP lounge on top. The UWEP's steel hull allows it to go up to 200 m below the surface of the water. That is not a huge depth, but it is deep enough to really feel like you are out of it. The submarine is fully electric, with four 80 kW (107 hp) horizontal drives and four 40 kW (54 hp) vertical drives to support ballast and buoyancy. Top speed is just 3 knots (5.6 km/h) on the surface and 2.5 knots (4.6 km/h) underwater.
