Higher productivity and more job satisfaction with the Frisse Fabriek
It is time for a new standard in factories and production halls. A standard in which solutions lead to clean air, sufficient light and a pleasant temperature. That is not only better for the people who work, it is better for the entire operation. The Frisse Fabriek helps achieve less absenteeism, fewer production errors and therefore higher production and better results. At ESEF Maakindustrie, you can experience for yourself at Colt International's stand what the Frisse Fabriek does and what it can do for you.
They are images from persecution times: the factories and production halls where a beam of light illuminates the dusty air through a small skylight and where sweaty people do their work behind machines emitting all kinds of steam and smoke. The modern workplace looks different: we work with more light, the air is cleaner than before but the temperature has also been addressed. Yet, unfortunately, there are still plenty of workplaces where working conditions are not yet fully optimised. This can have major consequences. For example, every degree above 20°C is a 4% decrease in productivity. That means that on a hot summer day, or an area where there are many machines producing heat, there is a big drop in productivity.
A pleasant working environment
It is a myth that a good working environment can be achieved simply by installing an air-conditioning unit somewhere. There are many more important factors that determine the experience of a pleasant working environment. Because, in addition to temperature, one must also consider humidity, radiant temperature and air quality. Success can only be achieved when all these variables are in balance with one another. There are tried-and-tested methods for assessing that success. These include the Fanger method, which formed the basis for the NEN ISO 7730 standard. This standard uses the PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) and PPD (Percentage of Persons Dissatisfied) as parameters to assess climate comfort.
Ultimately, a pleasant working climate does not only depend on the right temperature and humidity. Air pollution also plays an important role. No one is waiting for a hall full of dirty air or chemical fumes; besides not being pleasant to work in, there are plenty of health risks involved. Good ventilation or the supply of fresh, clean air is necessary in the overall concept of a good working environment.
Reduced absenteeism and improved performance
It’s not just a benefit for the employee. The entire business process benefits from a well-regulated climate. There will be less absenteeism, the performance of employees on the shop floor will improve, and the production process will also benefit. When manufacturing a product where even a millimetre or nanometre of deviation is too much, then one degree Celsius is also too much. It is therefore not just an investment in employees’ wellbeing; it is an investment in further optimising existing processes, with a superb end result: higher, consistent product quality. Satisfied staff and satisfied customers.
