The most popular trend in car design is ... architecture. After high-profile projects by Bentley, Porsche, Lamborghini and Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz is the latest car company to get serious about housing. The company is planning a new, super-high skyscraper to be built in Dubai.
The project, officially named Mercedes-Benz Places in Dubai, is a collaboration with Binghatti Properties. This developer is behind another car-architecture project, Bugatti's upcoming 'car lift skyscraper'. Few details are known at this early stage but the first image shows that the building will have a curved roofline and the facade will be dotted with the Mercedes-Benz logo.
Mercedes-Benz Places will have an impressive height of 341 metres. To put that into perspective, that's taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris but falls into insignificance next to the 828-metre Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. The interior of the 65-storey building will be used for luxury living spaces, with an emphasis on smart home technology.
Binghatti and Mercedes-Benz have been defining the details of this project for more than a year. During this time, the focus has been on creating a customer-centric approach that puts the needs of future residents first. The Mercedes-Benz design philosophy that revolves around "Sensual Purity" is a driving force behind the project's architecture. Here, timeless, beautiful spaces are created in an oasis of serenity and purity. By combining smart home technologies with intelligent mobility solutions, Mercedes-Benz aims to redefine comfort and convenience in a modern living space with Places Dubai.
Mercedes-Benz Places in Dubai is expected to be completed by 2026.
