The Open University will start the new Dutch-language academic master's programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the associated bridging programme in February 2022. The programme is mainly aimed at working professionals with a bachelor's degree in higher education or wo.
The Open University got the green light for the master's in Artificial Intelligence at the end of November. Rector magnificus Theo Bastiaens: "The demand for people with academic knowledge and skills in the field of AI is enormous. Moreover, there is not yet a master's that interested parties can also follow part-time. The Open University already has a number of highly rated IT programmes. We are therefore proud and delighted that we can now soon launch our new master's in Artificial Intelligence and the associated bridging programme."
Artificial intelligence, privacy, security and freedom
How do you get a package from A to B as efficiently as possible? When does a product sell best? Or how can you identify patients at risk of heart failure? The call for AI systems to improve processes, products and services is getting louder and louder. The master's in AI therefore teaches you how to design your own AI system. And also in such a way that people's privacy, freedom and security are not at stake. It is the only academic AI master's in the Netherlands that you can complete part-time and within two years.
Machine learning and neural networks
The master's in Artificial Intelligence is divided into four themes: the field of AI, data-oriented techniques, model-oriented techniques and new AI developments. Within these themes, topics such as machine learning, neural networks and Bayesian methods are covered. A separate course is dedicated to the ethical questions surrounding AI. During the master's, both knowledge and applicable insight are tested. Programme leader Hans van Ditmarsch: 'It's a strong programme and the Open University's AI education team is all set.'
Academic distance learning
As an expert in academically activating distance learning and guided self-study, the Open University offers this programme part-time. It is a mix of self-study, online guidance and physical meetings. This allows students to combine study and work. In credits, the size of the master's degree in AI is one year (60 EC). Good part-time programming allows you to successfully complete the programme in two years.
