TechniShow 2022 will be more compact compared to last edition, but the offering is more complete. Exhibitors focus on innovations that will allow manufacturing companies to respond to trends such as reshoring, shorter lead times, smaller series, lack of skilled workers and sustainability. 3D printing will receive special attention with a Technology and Process Square and a Theatre.
Jennie Elzinga, Sales Project Manager at Jaarbeurs, like many exhibitors, is counting down the weeks until Tuesday 30 August when the largest trade fair for the manufacturing industry in the Benelux opens its doors. "In the 20 years I have been active in trade fair country, I have never experienced such committed exhibitors. They cannot wait to come out with their products and services at the end of August at the first TechniShow since 2018. TechniShow is and will remain the largest technology fair for the manufacturing industry in the entire Benelux.
Smart, automated and sustainable manufacturing
The compactness does not detract from the completeness of TechniShow. The exhibitors guarantee a complete overview of what the manufacturing industry needs for smart, highly automated and sustainable production.

Overall mix becomes more balanced
Visitors can visit regular exhibitors, including Trumpf Netherlands, De Ridder, Dymato, Safan Darley, Valkwelding, Renishaw & Hexagon, as well as get to know newcomers. Newcomers such as Unil Lubricants, FenS B.V and Flemish CNC Soft, for example. "You notice that exhibitors are more focused than before on two or three parts of their portfolio. As a result, they often opt for a somewhat smaller stand. This gives room to newcomers. You see this in all themes", says Jennie Elzinga about this trend. This makes the total overview of TechniShow even more complete; the visitor sees even more innovations and solutions for all aspects of the manufacturing process.
Suppliers realise that physical contact at the fair speeds up investment decisions. Jennie Elzinga: "This is a market for live contact. This industry is about processes and products that buyers want. They want to look each other in the eye." Physical meetings and live demonstrations build trust. That, in turn, forms the basis for an investment decision.
Pre-registrations by major parties
Investment is what the manufacturing industry wants like no other. "We see at pre-registration that large companies are registering entire teams. They are not registering one or two employees, but immediately more than 10," says Jennie Elzinga. "This is partly due to the new view of supply chains. A trend that was already in play before, but has gained momentum due to the Corona, associated lockdowns and recently the war in Ukraine.
Reshoring
Reshoring from Asia and even Eastern Europe is also becoming a growing issue for Dutch and Belgian OEMs. This creates new opportunities for suppliers who are up-to-date in terms of production technology. Automation and digitalisation are currently sought-after solutions, which will receive ample attention at the fair and in the lecture programme. In the Chain Theatre at ESEF Maakindustrie, which is easily accessible for visitors to the TechniShow this year due to the new hall layout, this topic is given ample attention. For example, in a daily panel discussion, in which experts share their views on developments in the manufacturing industry."
Automation as answer to staff shortage
To hitch a ride on the reshoring trend, manufacturing companies need to automate and digitise their processes. On the one hand because skilled workers are scarce, on the other to respond to shorter lead times and greater fluctuations in customer demand. Flexible production is a necessity. In hall 12, exhibitors will show the latest solutions for production automation. The knowledge theatre will also cover this topic, for example in the presentations: 'Planning as a driver of productivity' and 'Smart Industry: can automation solve personnel shortages?'. The difference between robotisation and automation will be explained in a presentation by PKM.
Make way for additive manufacturing
A topic that is widely covered is additive manufacturing, or 3D printing. More and more companies are taking up 3D printing or orienting themselves towards the technology. In order to respond to trends such as reshoring, producing lighter and more sustainable products and the growing shortage of skilled workers.
TechniShow activities
TechniShow showcases the technology, whilst ESEF Manufacturing features 3D printing companies for whom series production using AM is business as usual. At TechniShow, visitors will find a 3D Technology Zone and a 3D Process Zone. In the 3D Technology Zone, exhibitors such as Dymato, Renishaw and Trumpf will be showcasing their 3D printing technology. This will allow visitors to gain an insight into the key AM techniques for metal. “In the 3D Process Zone, we’ll be demonstrating all the steps involved in the additive manufacturing process – from CAD software right through to post-processing,” says Jennie Elzinga about this zone in Hall 11. Exhibitors here include Rösler Benelux and Cadmes. Among other things, concrete business cases are being demonstrated in the exhibition areas.
Lecture programme and guided tours
To provide visitors with even more information, a programme of talks is being organised in collaboration with Flam3D, which will take place every day during the exhibition. Companies with experience in additive manufacturing (AM), such as KMWE, 3D Makerszone, Renishaw, Oceanz and Parts on Demand, are expected to attend. One day of the programme will focus on the process, whilst the next will focus on AM technology. On the first day of the exhibition, there will be a Guided Tour on 3D technology, as well as one on machining, sheet metal working and production automation.
Meeting challenges
TechniShow edition this year thus offers a complete overview of state-of-the-art solutions for modern manufacturing companies. Elzinga: "For a manufacturing company to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow, such as lack of skilled workers, more complex products, shorter lead times and sustainability, you need state-of-the-art technology. In the full breadth of the manufacturing process. That is what visitors will find at this year's Technishow."
