Hyundai has published a series of new videos as part of Hyundai's mission to accelerate the development of the so-called hydrogen society. The five new videos in the H-Conomy series answer the most frequently asked questions about the availability of hydrogen and fuel cell technology.
According to the car manufacturer, this is the first time such a comprehensive video overview has been made available on hydrogen as an energy source for cars. Five different videos have been produced covering the following topics: the history of hydrogen; why hydrogen-powered cars are so environmentally friendly; the economic aspects; the safety of hydrogen; and the future of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
The videos have so far been released in Korean and English and can be viewed on Hyundai’s official YouTube channel. The company has announced that it will be releasing further translations.
Promoting hydrogen
Hyundai has been intensively working on the transition to hydrogen as an energy carrier for hydrogen-electric cars, among other things, for some time. Besides the NEXO, the world's first mass-produced hydrogen car, Hyundai is expanding its hydrogen and fuel cell activities to trucks and buses, ships and trains. Hyundai is working closely with governments and companies worldwide as co-chair of the international Hydrogen Council to promote hydrogen as an energy carrier and accelerate infrastructure development around fuel cell technology.
In 2013, Hyundai launched the first hydrogen-electric vehicle on the market with the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell; some 50 of these are driving around in the Netherlands. In 2018, Hyundai, as mentioned, launched the NEXO, the world's best-selling fuel cell-powered car and the very first SUV designed specifically for hydrogen driving. Over one hundred and twenty have now been sold in the Netherlands and another two hundred NEXOs will follow this year.
